Bro. Dwight Everett, Senior Pastor

I was born and reared in Madison County, Alabama, graduated from Madison
County High School, received my BA in World Religions from Athens
University and earned a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Ministries from New
Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA. and I am
currently enrolled in the D. Min program, Evangelism and Church Growth, at
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. At LBC, we
believe the primary purpose of the church is to worship God. Worship is
allowing the Lord Jesus to manifest Himself in our flesh in this life.
Worship is not an option and isn't receiving something from God but the
presentation of our bodies to His service. When God's people worship they
are available and empowered for evangelism and other purposes He has for
us. At LBC, the inerrancy of the bible is reflected in all that we do. We
have a place for you! A place to worship - a place to serve - a place for
your spiritual gift - a place for your children - a place to call "home".
My wife, Vickie, teaches
first grade at Hatton Elementary School and our two children live in
Scottsboro, Alabama where they attend Calvary Baptist Church

Bro. Eric Kachur, Minister of Music &
Education
EricAKachur@juno.com

Eric was born and raised in Michigan. After graduating
from High School he moved to Mississippi and attended college at
Northeast Community College in Booneville on a full-tuition scholarship
playing percussion in the band. During his first year in college, the
Lord began to deal with him about the ministry, and he answered that
call in 1984. He then attended Blue Mountain College on a scholarship
from the Admissions office as a representative in the singing and
instrumental group, "2nd Century." At the age of 19, he began working
as a Minister of Music in small rural Baptist churches in North
Mississippi, and doing music in revivals for fellow students of Blue
Mountain. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Church Music and a
double minor in Bible & Sociology in 1989. He was called to his first
full-time ministry position after graduation to West End Baptist
Church of West Point, Mississippi, a position he had already held for
one year in a part-time capacity. In the Fall of 1992, Eric started as
a full-time student of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and in
1994 he received a Master of Arts in Christian Education. Since that
time he has served churches in Florida and Alabama, including working at
Leighton Baptist from 1996-1998.
While serving at Leighton, Eric met his wife, the former
Kala Beaver of Muscle Shoals, AL and they wed in 1997. They have no
children and one very spoiled cat promptly named, Staccato.
Eric most recently served for 7 and 1/2 years at Westside
Baptist Church of Tuscumbia, AL. He is glad to return to Leighton and
looks forward to building up numbers in Sunday School, seeing people
accept Christ as Savior, and leading our congregation in heartfelt
worship.

Bro.
Adrian Frazier, Youth Minister

I
was raised in Scottsboro, Alabama where I received Christ when I was
twelve years old. My senior year I began to feel that the Lord had placed
a call on my life for the ministry. When I graduated from Scottsboro High
School, I immediately began working with and learning from my youth
minister. I began by leading small groups and teaching lessons on
retreats and filling in during Sunday School. During this time I also
attended Northeast Alabama Community College and spent a summer in Panama
City, Florida being discipled and doing missions. During this time God
began to give me a love for ministry and a passion for discipleship. When
I finished school a Northeast, I moved to Florence, AL and began attending
the University of North Alabama. At UNA, I studied to become an
elementary school teacher, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in May of
2007. Also while I was at UNA, I was involved with the Baptist Campus
Ministries where I began going on mission trips. I have been on short
term mission trips to Gulf Shores, Honduras, and San Antonio. I also
spent a summer in Olympia, Washington working with a church. Most
recently I served as youth minister in a part time position at Hampton
Heights Baptist Church.
I am very excited
about teaching the students about all that Christ has for them. I believe
that Jesus set for us an example, and we are to follow in his steps.

Miss Kala Weatherby , Children's
Ministry Director

I
Love Kids! The Lord has worked in my life and given me such a strong
desire to work with kids and have an opportunity to lead them to Him. I
can think of no greater calling on my life than to lead children to the
Father and nurture them in their spiritual growth. Here at Leighton
Baptist Church we are blessed with teachers and volunteers who truly love
and have a heart for children. We plan all events under the overarching
goal of leading children to a personal relationship with Christ. In fact
our children’s department is even named Salvation Station! Come and see
what we are up to. We have age graded Sunday School, Children’s Worship,
RAs, GAs, and Wednesday night Bible study. If you have a child in sixth
grade or under then we have a space for them. We would love to visit with
you! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at the
church or email me. I would love to serve you if I can.

Lee Ann Akers, Secretary

High School; I earned an Associates degree from Calhoun Community College.
I am the mother of two wonderful children, Rachel and Wil.
My husband, Billy, and I attend church regularly along with
our children. I give praise to the Lord for all I have had, have now and
will have in the future...
